The Vietnam Urban Upgrading Project is designed to alleviate poverty in urban areas using participatory and pro-poor urban planning methods. The living and environmental conditions of the urban poor in the cities of Ho Chi Minh and Can Tho in the south, and Hai Phong and Nam Dinh in the north will be enhanced through the project. Begun in 2004, the project involves infrastructure upgrading and providing affordable housing and loans for affected households.
The ODTA team is using the Georesults visualization tool to display images, videos and results stories of the project as the activities are taking place. Georesults helps to enhance transparency in project activities as it allows stakeholders and other interested parties to explore a project from a local perspective. This online space features an interactive map and a photo set with the before and after pictures of different project locations.
